this setup makes absolutely no sense. if the drive does not use the encoder, there is no benefit in using them in linuxcnc, apart from stall detection or position tracking. proper closed loop drives will use the encoder for commutation, and operate the stepper more like a servo. you cannot achieve that using your setup.
