I think I am confused because one person appears to be talking about using XML in place of the INI file and another seems ot be talking about using XML to keep a database of all the possible INI file entries, their purpose and valid numerical ranges. > The advantage of an XML file is that it's possible to use a software tool to > create a more structured document with less chances for error. Maybe, though the INI file is really nothing more than a set of key-value pairs, and I am not convinced that XML adds anything particularly useful to that. One of the responders on this thread even makes a hardware cape for the BBB. I guess that the BBB falls through the cracks a bit by not being covered by PnCConf or by Stepconf, but the same is true of Pico hardware, General Mechatronics, Motenc etc etc. I have no objection to XML, I have even used it voluntarily. -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1916 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
