The config file has a strange entry:
AXES = 3
COORDINATES = X Z
Should there be names for 3 axes?
Not with a lathe. This apparent oddity is no longer required in 2.8.
I am using LinuxCNC 2.7.14.
To effect the Z axis, I change BACKLASH in the third axis, [AXIS_2]
-0.0100 -0.0080 moved -0.0081
-0.0100 -0.0175 moved -0.0095
-0.0100 -0.0275 moved -0.0100
-0.0100 -0.0375 moved -0.0100
+0.0100 -0.0305 moved +0.0070
+0.0100 -0.0210 moved +0.0095
+0.0100 -0.0110 moved +0.0100
+0.0100 +0.0010 moved +0.0100
How many steps per inch is the machine set up for? The inconsistent
physical steps might be due to the step granularity.
I am using the Sherline ini that was distributed with LinuxCNC 2.7.14.
I have changed only the BACKLASH setting.
After the backlash(?) is cleared, the movement is equal to the requested
movement. So, the number of physical steps should be correct.
Where can I find this value? Is this SCALE = -16000?
