I understand.  I'm running my DC servo's open loop with step/dir.  So far any 
issues that show up are caught by the drives following error fault so I don't 
see any reason to close the loop inside Linux.  And in any case then I wouldn't 
be able to swap back and forth between MACH3 and LinuxCNC.
