Hello,

Owner and user of some big iron using Linux CNC. I am not a noob but close,
I started down this path 5-6 years ago and have hung Linux on three turning
centers and 1 Three axis mill.

With that being said I went through a steep learning curve on the first
machine and at the time had a very good maintenance man employed here that
took off and ran with most of the heavy

lifting of using Linuxcnc . For the most part we just run what we have and
never update so my limited Linux skills have become very rusty (they were
never that great).

Now I have a project that I would like the experts to guide me on if you
guys see fit. I have a rotary axis that I want a stand-alone control on. One
axis display, Touchy maybe? Punch in the degrees of rotary

and execute as needed during a pause in the machining program on the machine
control. I would be able to move this head to two different mills for
indexing operations, one being an old Okuma Bridge mill

with 10 feet of travel.

Any thoughts or ideas on the best way to pull this off? PC? RPi4? Which
operator interface will work the best? I have a very nice 20" head sitting
here with a RotoKing control by J&P Control Systems out of

Connecticut that would work if I could find an operation manual for it,
Google has turned up nothing for me.

Any thoughts on this project?

Jeff Johnson
