So I have a 5i25 and 7i76 currently connected I'm running out of io, so am
thinking of getting a 7i73 for the console buttons eg cycle start so that I
can free up my 7i76 io for the toolchanger.

If you have 5I25 and 7I76 and need more encoders, there are a few options available from Mesa:

7I85 = 4 encoder inputs + 5 RS-422 serial ports

7I85S = 4 encoder inputs + 4 step/dir outputs + 1 RS-422 serial port

7I89 = 8 encoder inputs or 7 encoder inputs and 1 RS-422/RS-485 serial port
