If the spindle speed is steady, I have heard of folks doing rigid tapping with 1 ppr. Ditto g76. I have not personally tried it. Somebody that may have made it work might be Sam S., he seems to oooze black magic at times. I'd think it might need 5 or so turns of clearance for a starting position just so it could get a better average, but thats just a SWAG. IDK for sure.
