Yes, I can verify this.  I've just resurrected a vintage-2000 pick and place machine.  I had to reseat a whole bunch of connectors, and even reseat many socketed ICs (they used a bunch of 68-pin J-lead chips to basically control low-speed function boards via serial comms).  There were also a couple boards that initially worked fine, but then failed after a couple days of being powered on.


Reseating socketed IC's with tuner cleaner paid my rent when I was younger..
