So it is not a "real" .STEP file?    STEP should preserve the lines and
arcs and be 100% zero loss.   STL on the other hand is normally a mesh.
For example if you export to STEP then I import to Fusion I SHOULD be able
to change the dimension of a hole and it will resize.   I've imported a
zillion STEP files and so far none were meshes, they were editable CAD
files.

That said, I can imagine a STEP file that is like an STL with thousands of
faces and is un-editable.

So I will reask the question.   "Can OpenSCAD export to a normal editable
STEP file?", If so then there is a wide range of CAM software
available even if most is not free.
