As I said, this is what I did. It is not a machine tool but a walking dog-robot. The human interface can run on my iPhone.
Today we have things like $4 micro controllers (like the RP2020) that can run an RTOS. It makes sense to use them as they are more capable than the IBM PC was when LCNC was new. Would I ever do this for a machine tool? No. For me a machine tool is a tool.
