Not the database. And there's no room in the From column for both Name and Email Address. So, yes, the little box in the top right-hand corner COULD be made to look for email address too. But in order to do so it would HAVE to look in the message source (the headers) because the columns don't have the email address. So, yes, it could do that. But then it wouldn't be so quick. It would be exactly like the Advanced Find because - guess what - that's exactly what the Advanced Find does. So it should look for the email address, but it should also be as quick as it is now. In order to do that, they would have to fit the email address as well as the name into the From column. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM. It would squeeze out everything else. They can't always do everything. If they put name and email address in the From column, there would hardly be room for more than a word or so in the Subject column. Do you really think that would be better? I don't think most people would agree with you. Cut out Category column? A lot more people would be upset than the number of people like you who just don't feel like using Advanced Find. Research they did when developing the app indicated that far, far more people wanted the display name there rather than the email address. So that's what's there, and that's why the email address isn't there, and that's why the QuickFilter can't search email addresses. They introduced the QuickFilter because people used to complain that the regular and Advanced Find were too slow. It's an "extra". If it were redesigned so that it could find email address even though it's not in the column, it would go at the speed of Advanced Find, and more people would complain about that, now that they're used to the present speed of the QuickFilter. Maybe when everyone has 23-inch Cinema Displays there will be room for both both name and email address in the From column. Until then, or some other solution presents itself, just press option-command-F and get on with it. It works extremely well. If you happen to know a method by which the QuickFilter could be as fast as it is now without looking in the headers and without looking in the columns, I'm sure the developers would be very interested. -- Paul Berkowitz -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
