Dan, I tend to agree with Paul that you're asking for something that
QuickFilter was not designed to do. Obviously, the way it is designed
implies that you can search on an address. I think what needs changing is
the implication! That is, the label should not say just "From" or "To", but
something else more descriptive. Or, perhaps, there should be a label above
the popup menu that says, "Search Column" to indicate that it is searching
the displayed column and not the actual "From" or "To" fields.

But, IMO, asking the team to change the whole way the Quick Filter works is
not the way to go, and would basically both slow it down by making it search
the database, and essentially, turn it into a shorthand way to access the
"Advanced Find" function. You could create such a shorthand yourself if you
like, using an AppleScript that does the search for you. However, as it
stands, using a "whose" clause in a script takes even more time than a
manually initiated Advanced Find on the from or to fields. So, until they
give us direct scripting access to the Advanced Find functions, your best
bet is that manual find.
