That's correct, more or less. It gets all that information when Entourage
first starts up, and must access it when you switch to the folder. Then it
doesn't have to search for that information because it has it already. No
one outside Microsoft knows how the amazing database actually works. It's
their trade secret. Jud Spencer will probably take it with him to the grave.

Maybe Jud will say if it's "easy" or not to get and store information that
then isn't displayed in the columns as accessible as if it is. This is
programmer territory - none of us ere knows any of that. You're
pipe-dreaming. Probably anything is possible with software - with
consequences. My guess would be that it would slow down performance
generally if it were implemented as you suggest.

the QuickFilter was DESIGNED, as software, to get information that has
already been accessed from the database and displayed on the screen in
columns. That is what is was DESIGNED to do, whatever you may WISH that it
had been designed to do.
