I suggest you pay a little more attention next time you "play around with Office X". This is precisely one of the major areas that got a lot of attention. When inserting Work Address in Envelopes or from the Contact Toolbar, Word X inserts Company name. So that gives you a good reason to start using to Office X. > > I greatly appreciate and use many of the fine scripts created by the folks > on this list, but should users really have to download and install a script > or use two separate programs to do something as simple as print an envelope. > Am I that unreasonable to expect a contact manager to be able to include the > company name in the address. I think Microsoft has missed the boat again. You're the one who's missed the boat, because you haven't given Office X a thorough look. You don't have to use two programs nor scripts with Office X. As one of the people who spent all that time to provide the missing functionality in Office 2001, I'm glad to say it's not necessary in Office X. Furthermore, it hasn't been necessary since November 2001, when Office X was released. In spite of the major effort that carbonizing all the code to OS X took, MS did not neglect to complete the job they ha left unfinished in Word 2001. Not only do you get Company Name, you get an excellent Data Merge (mail merge) for envelopes, form letters, mailing labels and 'catalog'. The Query button at the bottom of the Data Merge manager is fully functional in Word X, allowing you to specify just contacts of a particular or several categories, individual contacts or selected contacts, and every overlapping combination of category and selection. You can specify which fields to include, and which punctuation - all in a more intuitive way than with the scripts. There are a few less parameters available than with George Clark's eQuery or my Office for Office scripts for 2001, but nevertheless almost everything is available in the DMM without needing any supplementary programs. I haven't felt any need to adapt OforO for X (although i will probably do just "Address Word Letter" since it adds a few features). Now isn't that reasonable of Microsoft? And isn't it unreasonable of you to bleat so vociferously without even checking out the updated program properly? -- Paul Berkowitz -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
