Obviously you are very frustrated by malfunction of a featureset (AppleScript) on your Macintosh. However, attacking the author of particular AppleScripts is unwarranted, since a very simple test has shown that your Macintosh fails to run the simplest scripts. What is wrong with your system is anyone's guess, but it is nevertheless a problem with your Mac, not Paul's scripts. Perhaps if you never need AppleScript for any other reason you'll be OK with your configuration and not need to repair whatever is wrong. Let's say you bought an automobiile with a trailer hitch. The manufacturer of the vehicle didn't design the trailer hitch correctly, but for the first four years you drive the vehicle, you have no need to tow a trailer. Then, you decide to take a super vacation, purchase a fancy trailer, attach it to your car, pull away from the curb, and the trailer falls away from your car. You might have driven the car for a decade if you'd never needed to tow a trailer. It would not be appropriate to blame the trailer manufacturer for your problem. What we DON'T know in this little parable yet is whether the problem with the trailer hitch implies some fundamental weakness in the structural integrity of your vehicle that might cost you your life unnecessearily should you be stuck from the rear in a motor vehicle accident. Similarly, we don't know (at least I don't know) from your description of your problem whether the inability to use AppleScript AT ALL (not Paul's AppleScript, but ANY AppleScript) indicates a problem that is likely to bite you, HARD (lost data) at the worst possible moment. I would be frustrated, just as you are, if someone suggested a possible solution to your problem that consumed several hours of my time yet didn't solve my problem. However, it's impossible (for me) to tell from the available information WHY your system is malfunctioning as it does. I'm not an OS expert, but if an archive/install clean installation of the entire operating system didn't help, it's likely either a serious problem or somehow you didn't install all the components of the operating system.
