Dnes,

This appears to have escalated beyond a simple Entourage Applescript issue
to a major Operating System/Hardware issue. At least your email works so
that is partly encouraging.

Here are some suggestions for trying to recover a fully working system that
will eliminate the issues you have with your software:

1) Archive and Clean install your system per instructions received here. I'm
assuming you ran all the Apple Software updates after the reinstall so you
should be at 10.2.6 with all recent security patches applied through the
System Preferences SW Update panel.

2) Lets run the Disk Utilities from the Install CD and check for Hard Drive
issues and repair permissions. Boot from the Disk 1 of the install CD. After
it boots and you get to the first screen that asks you to do something, go
to the FILE menu and select Disk Utilities. After it launches you will want
to Check and Repair any hard drive problems and then repair permissions.
This can fix many problems. After this you will reboot normally.

3) If Step 2 doesn't help, a third party utility such as Disk Warrior or
Tech Tool Pro may help fix or identify additional problems with your hard
drive.

4) If after all this, you still have only a partially functioning system
then you've got some serious hardware/software issues and need professional
help. At this point I would suggest contacting a local Apple Certified Shop
and have them take a look at it. If spending any money is not an option then
you will need to find a local user group and take your machine to a meeting
with them and see if they can figure out what's wrong.

I know this kind of problem can be frustrating but it's rare.

Another mailing list that deals with more broadly with Hardware and OS
software issues is Mac-L and you can subscribe to that list by going here:
