I've got answers from Microsoft. No, you can't do this now. The feature is on the wish list, but the difficulty/need ratio was too low to make it this time around. Perhaps in a future release. For now, a quicker workaround, two-click rather than one, but not bad: First, switch to Day View. Second, click on the small calendar that appears at lower left (unless you've collapsed the folder list in Mail View), clicking the day you want. Voila!
