I've got answers from Microsoft. No, you can't do this now. The feature is
on the wish list, but the difficulty/need ratio was too low to make it this
time around. Perhaps in a future release. For now, a quicker workaround,
two-click rather than one, but not bad:

First, switch to Day View. Second, click on the small calendar that appears
at lower left (unless you've collapsed the folder list in Mail View),
clicking the day you want. Voila! Fairly straightforward, I think.
