The point is that I do a lot of mountain photography and sometimes it
is nicer to have a person in the picture who enjoys the beautiful
landscape etc. Unfortunately, most of the people I know dont like to
be photographed or it is too early in the morning so I thought I
could the following setup: put the camera on a tripod, select the
picture I want to take, then set the timer so I have enough time to
get into the right place. the 10 second delay of the camera "self
release" wouldnt be enough, I think. So thats what I want to take
the timer remote release for (sorry for my insufficient English not
to explain it more correctly). Surely the wireless remote would be
more comfortable, but also much more expensive...

Thanks for the info!
