Hi Nick; I have put shoulder harness in a couple of Ercoupes, and gotten
approval to do another one.
The information Dick mentioned about no paperwork only applies if
you
do not have to make any structural modifications to install the harness.
i.e.
if you are putting it in to an aircraft with welded tube structure you can
wrap the harness around without modification. If you have to install
structure, you must get approval, most likely through the 337 process.
You should check with your local FSDO to see if they will approve
the
installation if you copy a previously approved one. I believe that not all
of
the installations are created equal, and may not get a blessing from the
FSDO. Your mechanic with IA may already have made some installations, and
know what will be approved and what may not.
