You'll hear a myriad of answers on this one, all from people that have done
it. AOPA should have a guideline IIRC, but you need to create a vacuum and
suck the ashes out. It's a known fact that dumping them out of the cabin
will sandblast your plane very well. Take a 1" piece of clear tubing and
extend it from the cabin, down just past the tailcone. Tape it with Duct
Tape, use the good stuff so as not to damage your paint. While in flight
have your passenger put the tube into the ashes and they will be sucked
while you fly over the area sacred to your deceased passenger. Neat and
clean and you wont have any remains flying around with you forever. Hope
this helps.

Hello H-Tails,
I noted the letter relating to dispersing "cremains" (that's how our
package with 1/2 of one of my mothers in law in it is labeled - she has
been lingering in my darkroom for far too long). I wanted to ask about
technique. I've read and heard the horror story of using a Cessna and
finding the dear departed blown into the aircraft. I dreamed up a
procedure whereby I'd make up a heavier-than-water container,
biodegradable, of course, for her and fly her out over the ocean (my
'Coupe "resides" 3 miles from the ocean), have my wife put the box on the
wing walk, or perhaps just beyond, and then maneuver to slide her off and
drop her into the sea (her wish). Any thoughts, suggestions, anything??
Thanks,
J. Beach
