OK...my turn...

Last year I went to Spruce Creek Fly-in in Daytona Florida to inspect some condo's my brother was interested in purchasing. He was living in Asia at the time and planning on moving back to the US. BTW, Spruce Creek is the largest Fly-in community in the world with over 1300 residences and 600 plus pilots living there. My brother decided to but a house, not a condo. I said to my wife, hey, how about we buy a condo as a weekend/retirement home. She said:

One...I have no interest in living in Florida (we live in NJ)

Two...I have no interest living in a Fly-in community

Three...I would not even consider the condo you picked (the least expensive one), if I was to agree to buy one, and I don't, it would be the most expensive one.

Four...but, it is your money, do what you want. But remember, it is YOUR condo, not mine.

So, being the considerate and understanding husband I am, I bought it.

For the first three months, she would not come to Florida with me, always saying "it is YOUR condo". Finally, on the fourth month, I told her I really needed her input on decorating. I had arranged for a decorator to be there and I REALLY needed her help.

Well, she was quite impressed with the place. I think she was anticipating a dirt strip with a couple of broken down trailers. She and the decorator went to town and made it look great. Now it is OUR place. My fear is that in the future, it will be HER place!

I suppose it was inevitable that I, too, would have to chime in. In
1976 we sold our 1942 Packard ambulance which was our joy.
Unfortunately, we lacked the cash to garage it, let alone restore it
and I could see that it was suffering from sitting outside. So,
misty-eyed, we sold it. I realized that to keep it, I would have to
"marry" it, and even then I knew that if I was going to be "married" to
such an inanimate object, said object had to be an aircraft. Thus all
these years later, I gained my second wife this spring, N57992 (1946
415-C). Number One knows she ALWAYS will be Number One, but realizes
there is a little bigamy going on. Actually, she (#1, that is) is most
wonderful about the whole thing, and insisted I find it shelter (and I
suspect may be getting me/it a DG for Christmas) - it now is in a
"shade hangar" (has no front door) in Westerly, RI, facing away from
the dreaded salt water, 81' field elevation, about 3 miles inland. (It
had been tied down at Quonset from May 'till Nov., about a mile or less
from Narragansett Bay - maybe 110ยบ arc of exposure, 19' field elevation
[think hurricane & corrosion].)

Happy Thanksgiving!
