Coupers,
As most of us realize, there is much to say for flying a comfortable old airplane -- even if the performance is not the same as the latest models. The fact that we fly low, slow and with a minimum gross weight fits our style -- and we love it.

Perhaps the same is true of computers? I was a dos believer and a long holdout against Windows. Seven or eight computer upgrades later, I've got very stable Windows systems on four different computers that provide all the IT resources that I can need or use. I've got sisters who use Macs (one used to work for Apple) and a son-in-law that is retired from Microsoft. We all manage to email back and forth and the fact that we use different systems never comes up - it is utterly transparent. Both systems work well provided you understand and conform to the rules of your system.

All of us should be happy that we have computers and be well satisfied that they can do all that they do. Just as we are satisfied with Coupes and don't really care that someone gets there faster or with a bus load of people.

Now, can we please return to Ercoupes and flying?

One has to consider some hideous marketing gaffs Apple committed along the years (including deliberate or inadvertent developmental gifts to Billy G., just like Xerox's original gift of the Graphical User Interface to Apple way back when). (re: Ed's comment)

The new Macs will do Windows as well so that people can have a Mac and its comfortable (and secure) operating environment but still have the capability to run the myriad of niche software that only works on Windows. (re: John's comment)
