Alex will be upset :-/

Why would I be upset? That makes no sense. I do, however, think that if
you choose a foreign-sounding (far more to an American's ear than to that of an Englishman) you will effectively be placing yourself at a distinct
disadvantage in the American "market", as it were. It's not my project.
It's yours (collectively). I have ultimately no authority, but I really
think you will not be doing the project a favor in terms of marketability
within the USA (I can't vouch for elsewhere, because I live here).

uh.. but are we really targeting a "market" here ???
What do you mean, it reminds of France, so Americans will bash us ?
Well I'm not sure I'm so interested by theses kind of developers :-)
small mind, small code

Nicolas has done a quick poll, British people prefer Étoilé to
Resonance, may be Étoilé is not so bad.

I never said it was :) I like the name, personally, but I do not think it
would be generally received well by many (most?) Americans. That's not
something I can really change, even though I happen to think it's lame.

Hm, but we're not doing a desktop for the "americans".. are we ?

I'm not sure the fact that the name doesn't sound american is in itself a bad thing; after all it's simple, short, easy to remember ;-) -- and we're not considering the
"american market" : it's a worldwide free software project after all ;-)

Frankly, I expect people to be more interested by the possibilities of the system
than by its name ! else nobody would use KDE or Exposé ;-)

I'm not particularly interested by keeping étoilé or ditching it -- but :
1) it seems that people on the list (and banlu) don't care
2) most people seems to prefer étoilé to resonance
3) no other unanimously celebrated name proposition came up :-/
4) it's less work to keep it considering #3

... So frankly, and if no other good reasons or names come up, I think we'll just keep étoilé/etoile.
