Hm, but we're not doing a desktop for the "americans".. are we ?

I'm not sure the fact that the name doesn't sound american is in itself a bad thing; after all it's simple, short, easy to remember ;-) -- and we're not considering the "american market" : it's a worldwide free software project after all ;-)

Frankly, I expect people to be more interested by the possibilities of the system
than by its name ! else nobody would use KDE or Exposé ;-)

To be clearer, as my response was a bit epidermic:

- of course we think about americans
- but they are not alone in the world, hopefully this project will be used in different countries - what sound "normal" to an american will sound "exotic" to somebody else (and vice/versa)
- etc.

And, having an exotic name isn't particurlaly a bad thing in my opinion. It's even a good thing
marketing-wise, if the name is not too alien..

On the other hand, I'm not "pushing" for étoilé because it's french -- I frankly, frankly don't care.

It's just that it seemed better than the other propositions -- even if Resonance was not bad, I think étoilé sound better -- and it's shorter, a good thing for a name. Not talking about the couple of
existing Resonance free software projects.

So in short, as the majority prefer étoilé or don't care, we should just keep it, unless somebody come with a better proposition. Come on, we won't spend a month discussing that, it starts to be boring.
