I'm writing euglug in a time of need... This morning, I sat down at my linux workstation only to find it stuck and not doing anything. The hard drive light was in an always on mode. So, I powered down and rebooted.
When it came back up, LILO loaded ok and it tried to boot my usual linux kernel. It got part way thru and shows something like this: hdb: read_intr: status=0x59 {DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error} hdb: read_intr: error=0x40 {Uncorrectable Error}, LBAsect=385623 \ Sector=0 end_request: I/O error, dev 03:45 (hdb), sector 2 EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock There were a few more of the above repeating for different sectors, which I assume are the other partitions. The above is my root partition. Any ideas? It doesn't seem like my hard drive is toast since the BIOS sees it, and the above error says the drive is ready and the head was able to seek to a certain position. Should I try Tom's Root boot and e2fsck the drive (if I can)? If I can't, what next? Thanks, Rob _______________________________________________ Eug-LUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.efn.org/cgi-bin/listinfo/eug-lug
