Just be aware that you can take *any* battery and charge it hard to get a (temporary) improvement in its amphour capacity.

The problem is that it doesn't last. Hybrids in particular are very careful how they charge and discharge their batteries, to maximize life. Hybrid batteries are considered part of the emission control system, so automakers are required to warrant the battery for 100k miles. This won't happen if you use it hard.
