Oh and the messages that got stuck with ScanMail outbound scanning turned on remained stuck with it turned off. Newly submitted messages went fine though.

The mail entry is marked up for a retry and eventually goes through. I have manually connected to the external site in question using Telnet and the remote system is performing as expected, there are no excessive delays. Can anybody shed any further light/suggestions?
