You want to give us a clue what this software is?

Item number 2 is a show stopper IMO. Your users are going to flip out and
rightly so.

I'm also curious what the goal here is. It seems like you are moving stuff
from one storage to another. What's the value here? I'm not seeing it.

I'm evaluating server-based software to remove large attachments from email,

put it in the file system, and replace it with a link.  So far so good, but 
I have two concerns:

1.  When an attachment that appears in more than one mailbox is removed, I 
would guess that SIS is lost.  And I'm wondering if that would end up taking

up more disk space than before?

2.  When attachments are removed, so is the paper clip icon.  The user has 
no way of knowing which messages have attachments, or be able to sort them 
by that field.  That could make searches very difficult.  Any experiences of

that sort?
