One option is to outsource this to a service provider
e.g.
http://www.trendmicro.com.au/au/products/enterprise/interscan-messaging-
hosted-security/index.html

Another option is to use VMWare ESXi (free)
https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=esxi
on each server and move to IMSS on both boxes virtualised
The only reason I suggest virtualised is that this provides for better
disaster recovery (by the virtual server being hardware independent) and
if you use it internally, then you will have support for VMWare

I don't understand the bits in sendmail that aren't in IMSS?

Perhaps upgrading to IMSS Advanced?

I would of thought IMSS pricing is user based and that you could use two
IMSS servers?

They accept mail from the Internet, use various Blacklists and
sendmail features to block spam. Relay all mail to the Internal Hubs.
The 2 Gateway servers share the load and provide redundancyfor each
other

Redundancy

Sendmail, Trend IMSS

I don't have numbers right now, but mail for 6000 corporate users

Exchange 2003, 2 Front ends, 2 back ends, data on EMC box

We have 1 UNIX/Linux guy and 1 guy who knows anything about
Sendmail/Trend's IMSS (this guy retiring)

Need to assess our alternatives for support of this piece of the
environment.
