1. I have disabled almost all services that listen to an outside port like
telnet and ftp. When I port scan my computer, nmap shows I have a Printer and
an X11 port open. I want to know if it is possible to disable these ports as
well. I'm not a print server and I really don't want to use X remotely.
2. My box is on the campus network here at school. I have Port Sentry set up
and from looking at the logs, I see that I've been port scanned. In all cases,
it was just once per IP address. My question is if someone persists, how many
times should I allow my self to be port scanned with out taking action? Then
if I should take action, what do I do?
Any help would be great.
