Hi,

actually it can also be dependent on how the card is configured,  if it's in
PNP mode it can be
a bitch to get setup right in linux.  You might want to look for the
3c5x9cfg.exe  or somethign like that.
It's a dos utility that let's you change the card configuration.   I changed
mine to not be PNPand have had no problems since then in linux.  It is my
primary external nic to my cable modem through a linux gateway.
