Pro:
1) 8 second fsck on a 6 gb partition
2) less wasted disc space (i.e. empty space consumed by directories
etc.)
3) generally faster
Con:
1) If you're using a stock Mandrake kernel, you need an initrd to load
the module or you get a kernel panic on boot. (Another reason to
recompile your kernel after you install :)
2) That initrd is yet another file that can't be moved/copied
without due consideration (i.e. reinstalling the boot loader)
