Somebody may have mentioned this earlier. Postfix runs certain tasks chroot.
The jail is at /var/spool/postfix. resolve.conf lives in /var/spool/postfix/etc If resolve.conf is not set up when you install Postfix, this file will not be correct. I imagine HOSTNAME is passed through the environment but I am not sure. Jim Tarvid
