OK, this does look to be a bug.  It should be reported as such to kde.org.  I 
don't do imap anymore and when I did, it was just one account.  I run my own 
mailserver locally (and fetchmail to a pop3) so I never see problems.  I also 
never saw problems before I ran my own mailserver and simply accessed pop3 
accounts.  This is a bug to be reported rather than simply discarding kmail 
in silence - has it been reported by others?
