Jim, So if I get a raggedy 494, I need to buy a pair of the sleeves that Dennis Kirk sells for around $90 each, then pay to have them installed by a machine shop, then bored and honed to the correct "standard" bore. So basically about $400 to have the 2 cylinders ready for new pistons. I guess that is still cheaper than the $1000 a new pair of cylinders would cost? Have I missed anything? Remember, I am still a virgin when it comes to the Rotax stuff. With Kawasaki you just buy a new pair of cyls for $150, no machining at all. Bill Schmidt 88 Red Devil Kawi for now.
>>> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 01/22/07 7:29 AM >>> Well, that engine wasn't perfect. I needed new pistons and liners since it had Wiseco's and a two step overbore. Just so happens that Tony had a sale on those parts not so long ago... Double that price or just a bit more, you can find them complete. Just call Greg O. On the 494, only the first factory overbore is allowed, so if you need more, it is time to resleeve. You won't regret going to the 494. Rock solid, problem free engines. ----- ________________________________ FormulaCar Magazine - A Proud Supporter of Formula 500 The Official Publication of Junior Formula Car Racing Subscribe Today! www.formulacarmag.com or 519-624-2003 _________________________________ _______________________________________________ F500 mailing list - [email protected] To unsubscribe or change options please visit: http://f500.org/mailman/listinfo/f500 *** Please, DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the mailing list! ***
