I don't think it's a matter of good taste or bad taste, which are
often class- and 
gender-based judgments.  It's a question of how well the words
express what 
you want to say, or the mood you want to convey. Not long ago a book
with 
four-letter words on almost every page won the prestigious Booker
Prize in 
England.
