Indeed. Jimi taught himself to play guitar, too,
possibly (and ironically) starting with Bert's
guides. It's just that he was able to take it 
and run with it; I never was.

What browser are you using? I have seen no such
behavior, but that's because I'm a long-term 
Firefox TB, and use the Adblock Plus add-on.
I haven't seen a popup ad or an ad on a webpage
or any such request in several years. 

Plus I regularly run the equally free Ad-Aware
software, which seems to keep my computer free
of spyware and adware.
