I spent my teenage years in and out of (some very rough) Children's home and half a dozen different foster parents... Magician was donated to the "library" (I use the term loosely ~ more acouple of book trolleys and shelves) at one of the children's homes I was in and I used Magician and later Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon to escape from the darker parts of my childhood. My childhood would have been a whole lot less enjoyable and much harder without my trips to Midkemia... thanks to Raymond.

I reread all the books, in proper order about every eighteen months to two years now. Within the next two years I will be buying a canal boat and doing some travelling and my Feist collection will be one of the limited "dead tree" books I will be taking with me. (Most of the rest will be on my Kindle).

I've been a member of the list for a while, but I haven't posted... I was
wondering how everyone found Magician when you read it the first time.

I went to Marist High School in Chicago and my freshman literature
teacher, Mrs. Littleton had us read both, Apprentice and Master, for
class... I have been in love with the story ever since. It is now 17 years
later and it is the only series of books (really the only books) that I
read... I always read the newest book in 1-2 days (which causes some rough
mornings the next day).
I got it in my copy from SFBC when I was in High School. I got it my Senior
year and it was the combined edition. I had to wait for the others to be
written. But it was well worth the wait.
