I was at university in the late 80's visiting a new friend when I saw the paperback of Magician on his (Paul's) bookshelf. Paul heartily recommend I read it but I was put off by the blurb which mentioned aliens on a ship from another world- I loved scifi and fantasy but had never thought of them together (which was the implication to me). Next time I visited Paul he recommended it again so I gave it a shot and haven't looked back. I joined this list in mid 1996. I returned the favour to Paul as he is now my bother in law and father to two of my nieces (and at one stage, owner of a dog called Calin). Cheers, Colin.
