I use nebulizers (not vaporizers) with medicine in them..not water...I
have heard some people take cats into the bathroom with them when they
shower, too.

Here's the nebulizer I made (well, I didn't make the one in the pic,
but one very similar).

I would go with zikthromax. Clavamox and amoxicillin are just not strong
enough alone for stubborn problems. And the only time I use a vaporizer is
when there is a lot of congestion and the cat is having a lot of problems
breathing. Never heard of the vinegar before and it sounds pretty foul to
me. (I hate the smell of vinegar.) I have used Vick's for vaporizers but
just for a little bit at a time. I have heard it is not good for cats but
in an emergency when you want to get nasal passages opened up, I go for it.
But if he's eating well, it sounds like he can smell and breath so I think I
would just do zithromax in this case.

Question about URI's since you are good with them...I
have a 6-7 month old boy in my basement I am trying to
nurse with a URI. He is on Clavimox/Amoxicilin I
think that is what it is called...it is a liquid...I
am also running a vaporizer for him 24 hours around
the clock. I did have vinegar in the water but my
boyfriend thought that was too much for him so last
night I put just plain water. I can't tell if he is
sounding any better. He has this awful cough that
keeps lingering on. He has only been on medicine
since Sat. night. I know some cats it takes longer to
break the URI, but should I be worried that this cough
is still lingering? He is eating like a piggy and is
purring and appears to be acting well. He does not
have any discharge anymore, but again, that cough just
won't go away...any ideas? Have you ever heard of
using vinegar with a vaporizer? Should I put it back
in? He is negative so far for FeLV by the way...
Thanks,
Sheryl
