When pets are euthanized at a vet clinic, they use sodium pentobarbital to kill them. They then (unless you reclaim the body) sell/give the body to a rendering plant that sells the rendered fat to pet food companies. All of the major grocery store foods and the vet foods have this stuff in it. Hills has long admitted to using euthanized pets in their foods. The thing is that after pet foods are complete, there are still levels of pentobarbital in the pet food. Some veterinarians believe that some animals are becoming more resistant to anesthesia because of the levels of pentobarbital in pet food. The FDA claims this is not true and that the levels of pentobarbital are safe in the pet foods. I just cannot buy this. You will never convince me that the stuff is completely safe.

I had not seen that one but am familiar with the information. That is why I

FDA report this weekend on pentobarbital was about the last straw for me. I
was simply stunned at their findings. Just stunned. I don't want a drop of
pentobarbital in my pet foods.
