Hi everyone--

I broke down and bought a new computer after much debate and frustration.
Of course, everything available these days for PC is preloaded with
Windows XP. I know some of you are groaning already!!!!

XP does allow rollback compatibility for programs, and I have set mine to
Win98 for Finale 97c (yes, there's a really *good* reason I'm still using
it...........!). Of course, I get the error that the Finmid32.dll won't
load because it can't find the service it calls (a midi driver). [Before I
did that Finale was giving the error that MIDI isn't supported under WinNT.]

The XP does allow for game porting, of course, and that's how I had my midi
keyboard set up in the other computer under Win98. I assume that's what
I'll do again, but until I can go get the cable (different connector size)
I'm wondering will this be a futile effort?

I guess I can set up a partition on the new computer for the 98 OS and load
Finale from there.... is this the only real fix or does someone have
experience they're willing to share that might keep me from going that
route?

I appreciate any help you send my way!
best to you all, then-

Cecil Rigby
