I was talking about all instruments, not just the trumpet. I didn't realize that recordings of 18th C. trumpeters were available to compare to today's performers, valves or not. FWIW, according to a trumpeter friend, Maxwell Davies' Orkney Wedding With Sunrise makes Brandenburg 2 seem like a walk in the park. On another subject, there are two types of basset horns. The Leblanc model, which seems to be the preferred version among the best players such as Dennis Smylie in NYC, has a large bore and is played with an alto clarinet mouthpiece. _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
