Anyone with a copy of pre-2004 Finale and a valid serial number can install it with no problems.
And given all the talk recently about copy protection, it just seemed ironic for Coda to sent out thosands of pieces of mail with the serial numbers right on them -- especially when there's absolutely *no* reason why the serial number had to appear on the label. It's a little like getting mail from the bank with your account number on the address label.
