A little off the conversation: Are users aware of Tobias' plug-in that will "Transfer" your page layout from one file to another. It really helps with parts that can be layed out the same or "close enough" so you have a starting point.
The plug-in can be found in Modify->Tranfer..., click on the "Layout" tab. Check: 1. Locked measure groups 2. Staff system margins... Then copy and paste. It is a huge time saver if your not aware of this capability...this is why I love 2003. For me 2003 was such a huge upgrade just for the features that the plug-in developers were able to create.
