Here's a user report on Kontakt player performance under Rosetta, from the Northern Sound forums:

does GPO and Garritan Studio work with Mac's Rosetta for those of us with Intel Macs?

Yes/no/sort of. They run and they work. But you run into performance problems pretty quickly with more than a couple of instruments.

Pretty much what I thought. Kontakt Player 2 should run a little better under Rosetta, so Intel Mac owners may have better luck with FinGPO instead of GPO full, at least for the moment.

It's also worth noting that even after a Universal version of Kontakt Player 2 is released, GPO and JABB full will still need to be updated for the new player. Here's Tom Hopkins (lead programmer at Garritan):

Two parts to this: First, Haydn on another thread has just posted that the present full GPO seems to work just fine with Finale 7. Second, as I've stated before, updates (all updates) will coincide with the move of the GPO and JABB libraries to the K2 player. I can't give you a date on when that will take place.

MacIntel users (well, all users, but especially MacIntel users) should probably email Garritan to encourage them to release the K2 updates for GPO and JABB full as soon as possible.

Cheers,

- Darcy
