I simply can't believe that after all these years there's no way in
Finale to space correctly melismas over short values. When you have
a syllable over 4 16ths, for instance, you DON'T want the first
16th to have twice the space of the 3 following ones. But this is
still what happens in Finale 2008. And since I can't get TGTools'
New spacing to work, I'm stuck, and have to go back to 2007...
after less than 24 hours with 2008.
Has anyone else had any luck with this? Or is there another way
I've been overlooking for years?
I don't seem to be getting the results you are getting, which makes
me think that there is something wrong with the installation. Did you
copy your FAN files over, because nothing will space properly without
them, especially custom fonts?
Did you run "update smart word extensions and hyphens" from the
Utilities menu, then update layout? Sometimes I notice 2008 is not
automatically updating these things, even if I have it turned on,
especially when I have an old file open.
I didn't try the TGTools item you mentioned, but definitely talk to
Tobias about it. He will know if there is a problem, and he is
incredibly quick to fix things once he knows about them.
