I used to do that, but now I'm more often using START NEW SYSTEM in
measure properties, instead. The drawback on that is that it doesn't

I don't know of a way that would be easier than command-L (on Mac) to lock a system, or group of systems, depending on what is selected. It doesn't get transferred to parts, nor back to the score.

I only use Start new system when a new movement starts in teh same file.
