Separators need to be fully adjustable (user must be able to delete/move individual ones if the default settings doesn't fully work with the layout or in the optical context), the best current approach would probably be to create them as page text, since they're available in a music font. Artics/Expressions/Measure text/Smart shapes text would screw up too often if measure layout is altered.
