No.  dpkg keeps track of which files 'belong' to which package, and  
when it replaces some of the files, it reassigns their ownership to  
openmpi-dev.

I guess this only applies to liblamf77mpi.dylib?  You are saying that  
it is definitely binary incompatible with the new version?
